Ingredients
From step 3: Pour in 400 ml coconut milk and 500 ml chicken stock. Add 1 star anise, 1 tbsp fish sauce and 1 tsp salt, and let it simmer gently for 10 minutes.
All those screenshots, reels and bookmarks in one recipe book where you can actually find them, and that does the maths when you cook for two instead of four.

You see a tasty recipe on Instagram and save it. Or you send it to yourself, or grab a quick screenshot. Weeks later you want to cook it, and the search begins. What was it called? Was it a reel or a post? There’s no filter for "with chicken, under half an hour", and your saved folder is hundreds of recipes long by now. And when you do find it, the recipe is sometimes only in the video and not in the caption. Or the video has gone offline.
Smaquli puts everything in one book. Every recipe gets separate ingredients and steps, so you can find it again and actually cook from it.
Everything in one recipe book
From a recipe you come across to the shopping list, in three steps.
Paste a link from a recipe site, share a video from TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, paste the text from a chat or say the recipe out loud. Smaquli turns it into a proper recipe, with separate ingredients and steps. You see it on a review screen first, and only when you’re happy does it go into your book.

The recipe serves four and there are two of you? Set it to 2. Smaquli converts everything, including the amounts in the steps. And if there’s no cream in the fridge, swap the ingredient: amounts, steps and times adjust.
1 tsp salt, for 2
2¼ tsp for 5, not 2½
1 bay leaf, for 2
still 1 bay leaf for 6
250 ml cream
200 g crème fraîche, and the sauce no longer boils
Put the recipe on the list, for the number of servings you chose. Anything that appears twice adds up: 1 onion and 2 onions make 3 onions. Everything is sorted by supermarket aisle, and whatever is Always in stock, like salt and olive oil, stays off the list.

In the app
Above, you play with rebuilt examples. These are the real screens of Smaquli, with a made-up household and our own recipes.
The app is in Dutch for now. English is on its way.
With Premium, four of you can use Smaquli. You share one recipe book and one shopping list, and whatever one of you ticks off in the supermarket is ticked off on the other’s phone straight away. Everyone gives their own stars, and that becomes your top list.
No signal by the freezers?
The list works without internet too. As soon as you’re back online, everything syncs up.

See pricingsmaak + culinair = Smaquli
Smaquli started at home, with a folder full of saved Instagram recipes we could never find again. We built a recipe book for our own household of two, and used it ourselves first, every week, in our own kitchen. The name? Smaak (taste) and culinair (culinary) in one Dutch word, with a q.

No. Smaquli is a web app: you add it to your home screen from the browser, on Android and on iPhone. It isn’t in the App Store or on Google Play.
From recipe sites (you paste the link), from TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, and from any text you paste, such as a message from a chat. Facebook and Pinterest don’t work with a link, and some recipe sites block fetching. Then you paste the recipe text instead.
Yes. If a step says "Brown 400 g mince" and you cook for 5 instead of 2, it says "Brown 1 kg mince". Salt and spices go up more gently, and a bay leaf stays one bay leaf.
Yes. You tick things off in the supermarket, even without signal. As soon as you’re back online, the rest of your household sees it too.
Not yet: the app is in Dutch for now, and recipes are saved in Dutch. English is on its way. Recipes in English are translated, and cups, ounces and Fahrenheit are converted to grams, millilitres and degrees Celsius.
Smaquli opens soon. Join the waiting list and you’ll get one email as soon as you can start.
