About Smaquli
What is Smaquli?
A recipe book as an app, for your phone. You save recipes from recipe sites, videos, chats or your own voice, and Smaquli turns them into proper recipes with separate ingredients and steps. That lets you change the servings, make a shopping list and find everything again.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Smaquli is a web app that you add to your home screen from the browser, on Android and on iPhone. It isn’t in the App Store or on Google Play.
Is the app in English?
Not yet: the app is in Dutch for now, and recipes are saved in Dutch. English is on its way. Recipes in English are translated, and converted to grams, ml and °C.
Saving recipes
Which recipes can I save?
Recipes from recipe sites (you paste the link), Instagram posts and reels, TikTok videos, YouTube Shorts and regular YouTube videos up to 10 minutes, text you paste, and recipes you say out loud or type yourself.
Does it work with Facebook and Pinterest?
Not with a link. Copy the recipe text and paste it into Smaquli.
Can I import a photo of a cookbook page?
No, not (yet). You can say the recipe out loud or type it. If you type "200 g flour", Smaquli turns it into amount, unit and ingredient by itself.
Does Smaquli keep the videos I share?
No. Smaquli gets the recipe out of the video and doesn’t keep the video afterwards.
Cooking
How does changing servings work?
You choose 1 to 20 servings. Countable things become whole or half pieces, salt and spices scale more gently, a bay leaf stays one bay leaf, and the amounts in the steps follow.
Does Smaquli have a cooking mode?
There’s no cooking mode with one step per screen. Every step that has a time does have a timer, with a beep, a vibration and a notification, and you can turn on Keep screen on, so your phone doesn’t go dark.
Does Smaquli make a meal plan?
No, not (yet). You put recipes on the shopping list yourself.
Does Smaquli calculate nutritional information?
No, nutritional information isn’t included (yet).
Shopping and together
Does the shopping list work without internet?
Yes. You tick things off in the supermarket, even without signal. As soon as you’re back online, everything syncs up again.
Can I share Smaquli with my family or housemates?
Yes, with Premium. Then four of you can use Smaquli, and up to 10 with extra people. You share one book and one shopping list, and everyone gives their own stars.
Pricing and payment
How much does Smaquli cost?
You start for free. Premium costs €4.99 a month or €39.99 a year, VAT included. With it you import without limits and four of you can use Smaquli.
What does unlimited mean?
That you import and swap as much as you like. There’s only a brake against misuse: at most 30 imports and 60 AI actions per person per hour.
What can I do with Free?
You keep up to 10 recipes, and each month you can import 2 times and swap 2 times. Changing servings, the shopping list and search are unlimited.
How do I cancel?
You can cancel at any time. Premium then carries on until the end of the period you’ve already paid for. After that 20 recipes stay active, and you choose which. The rest goes into the vault, with the title and photo visible, and comes back as soon as you take Premium again.
How do I pay?
The first time with iDEAL, credit card or Bancontact, then automatically.
Privacy and your account
Where are my recipes stored?
On our own server in the Netherlands, with daily encrypted back-ups. You can always export them, as JSON; photos are included as links.
Is AI trained on my recipes?
No. Smaquli sends a recipe to AI models for processing, without your name or email address, and training and storage are switched off at the service that provides those models.
I forgot my password. What now?
Smaquli doesn’t send emails, so there’s no reset by email. If you’re in a household, it goes through the household owner. If you’re the owner yourself, email us at info@smaquli.com.
How do I delete my account?
Send an email to info@smaquli.com. There’s no button to delete your account yourself (yet).
